Pros

Strong and unique brand concept - I was a member myself before working here and truly believed in the mission. Great place to learn a lot of different modalities. Although because of this, they rush through training, so you need to be able to keep up the pace and learn quickly in order to pass.

Cons

Pay is abysmal. No real incentives to sell product or bonus. Keep in mind that Glowbar attracts clients on a budget so majority of clients are not tipping the standard/suggested 18% gratuity. I did not like that the studio guides were not estheticians/licensed pros themselves because majority of them did not seem to understand how to properly ask for gratuity at checkout and because of this, the estheticians paychecks had to suffer. I worked at multiple stores and each had a completely different vibe based on the management. I'm a somewhat seasoned esthetician so a place like this was hard to work for where they micromanage every little thing that you do.

Pros

One free facial a month. Glowbar takes care of marketing and leads.

Cons

Disconnect between company messaging around employee value and actual treatment Facial service prices raised $15 with only a $0.25 raise given to service providers Corporate staff receive perks (group cruise excursions, etc) while estheticians and sgs struggle financially Product commission was removed, then reinstated at 10% of total sales, a significant reduction 1.3% raise (if you were lucky) does not keep pace with NYC inflation and cost of living (5%+) “Full time” shifts were shortened to 6 hours each (32 hrs a week) reducing take-home pay further Full-time employees report difficulty affording rent Inconsistent sanitation standards: employees regularly have to clean and disinfect workstations left by coworkers Low morale despite initial positive sentiment toward the company
