SAP/Hybris Acquisition Will Give Gigya the Visibility it Deserves - Director Gigya Employee Review

Pros

VERY well-run company (great exec team) with a solid product that gets better every year. Very smart and talented staff, who when properly coached and motivated have unlimited potential. The sale to SAP was brilliant in a number of ways, including timing as the market begins to mature and consolidate. Compensation is competitive, and managers are competent. New career opportunities are dramatically expanded with the acquisition.

Cons

People who think that "snacks" are a legitimate topic for Glassdoor reviews (Pro or Con). Sure, the acquisition will bring changes (including a gradual change in culture as Gigya is assimilated into SAP/Hybris) and not everyone will be happy with them. So, the bad news is that Gigya will lose some of its great talent (most likely some of the younger stars who want to stay in a "startup" environment), but the lack of career path/mobility opportunities was formerly a Con and is now a Pro as part of SAP.

Pros

Gigya is a place where smart, hard working people flourish. Change is constant and we often try new strategies to be successful. That's what a start up is. We have a great culture and have traditionally hired great people. Unfortunately management was pushed to make rapid hires and because of that, some bad seeds joined the pack. (See recent negative reviewers) The people who wrote those reviews were people who did a mediocre job, didn't get promoted 6-8 months into the job and didn't understand that just doing the minimum to get by doesn't mean you get a shiny new promotion. It's sad that people feel the need to lash out on a place that gave them their start in sales, paid them well and taught them skills that would help them in their next career. It's very clear that Gigya wasn't the right place for them, because a true Gigyian would never bash a place that fed them, taught them, celebrated them and paid them well.

Cons

Some may say that "only working from home 1 day a week" and "not enough snacks" is a con. To them I say, cry me a river or move back in with your parents and have them pack you a snack. This is your career, not play time.
