Pros

Coworkers, Benefits (medical, dental, vision)

Cons

The BB20 initiative has created an environment where no one has job security. Because of this, morale is down worldwide. Employees are not encouraged to voice concerns to upper management; in fact it is detrimental to one’s career if you do so. Employees are told that are to work until they get the work done even if that means that they must work 18 hour days and 7 days a week. Management in both India and US are encouraged not to give employees good performance reviews which in turn directly affect performance pay. Offices in India have things such as cafeterias, on-site child care, on-site gyms, on-staff waiters, departmental outings, busses that take the employees to and from the office, holiday parties (including holidays that are not celebrated in India), etc… US offices are penalized for purchasing basic office needs. American applicants are passed over for jobs in favor of their less qualified Indian counterparts because of cost alone. Employees are moved from one reporting manager to another without warning, input from their manager, and explanation why they were moved.

Pros

Relaxing, mostly stress-free environment. Everyone that you talk to is friendly. They have very flexible work hours in general. I can take time off randomly and it will be fine, although it will be unpaid time off if you don't use vacations. As long as your work your 8 hours, you are fine.

Cons

Company doesn't match 401k. They don't pay all of time off due to customer factory shutdowns (They pay many of the days for the holiday shutdown; but are petty with the remaining few days). The summer shutdown is unpaid if you don't have any projects to work with. They do not inspire personal development with the lack of training. Generally no overtime. If a customer requires us to stay for a few hours, we take time off instead to compensate. There can be favoritism involved on performance reviews. Without bosses being in the customer locations along with the employees, sometimes there is a disconnect on what the employees are actually doing; The performance reviews can look biased one way or the other.
