Pros
The work can be interesting at times, but not usually. After all, the truly interesting, challenging work will likely not be handed off to consultants. However, there are also internal projects which are interesting where you can get involved and grow your skills.
Cons
The pay is very low, your skills will be rewarded anywhere else. I also did not really receive any mentorship. Work-life balance was not great; I'd receive messages and even calls to my cell from my client/manager in the evening and nights, sometimes weekends, and often had to jump online for something which could totally wait until the next day. If you're a young, ambitious person looking to grow you can do a lot better.
