Pros
It's a very solid company making a cutting edge product that we need for defense. So job security is pretty good. There are lots of really smart people to learn things from. It's a big company so there are lots of opportunities to try out different fields within design and engineering. Excellent 6 percent 401k match with good brokerage options through Fidelity. Company also contributed to employe HSA. Lots of strong community activities and clubs.
Cons
Even though we are hiring like crazy, there is just too much work to go around. We are working a lot of hours and getting burned out. Engineers coming out of school are making very close to what 5 year engineers are making, and the compression just gets worse the longer you stay. The company is safety and quality focused, but is also very velocity focused, which means inefficiencies within individual departments can become huge pain points. Take for example the current attrition problem. Without pensions keeping people here, engineers get better offers and leave. This is happening more and more, which puts a heavy burden on the experts that have chosen to stay despite being paid below market average rate. Oh, and parking can be tough. Get used to walking 15-20 minutes to and from your car unless you get here before 7 AM.
