Pros
When working at Gamestop i enjoyed that i was able to meet new people that shared my interests. This helped with the lively environment when working. The employee discounts they offer can actually add up pretty well. IT depends on if your buying apparel or games though. Since being able to explain games is a part of this job, employees are able to check out games and return them. There are some rewarding challenges that has different Gamestop stores compete. Some of the rewards are exciting and actually makes people want to compete.
Cons
A con i noticed as soon as i started working here was that higher ups really care about Circle of Life Sales. Management will be on your back to make sure you sell a certain amount of preowned games or PRO memberships. I notice that Gamestop hirers literally anyone. i feel that the Store Leaders do not care about their employees and just goes with the flow. While i do think Store Leaders have good personalities there was no type of leadership to be found. The Higher Ups are tone deaf. They look at stats of certain games that sell in the area and still expect us to sell games that are not popular in the area. They think that within one workday employees can accomplish anything. Gamestop WILL cut hours for everybody but the Store Leader. Gamestop also messes up the payroll without warning and fails to fix it. The pay is very little for anyone to survive on.
