Pros

Small company with owners onsite contribute to a laid back family type atmosphere. Most people show up to work in sweat pants and t shirts. The benefits seem pretty decent and include medical and dental. The managment is very knowledgable about the industry that they are in which comes from the fact that the company was founded 50 years ago by Dr. Galbraith and has grown since then.

Cons

Lack of willingness of owners to reinvest in the company. The lab has been around for 50 years and still operates like it did 50 years ago. Run down and makeshift facilities, old equipment, little to no automation, depressing atmosphere. The lab itself is a maze created over the years by haphazardly adding rooms onto a core cement building. Old equipment is tucked into corners and every cabinet.

Pros

The people who work there are friendly, positive, and have a great team based environment.

Cons

The lab building would be better if it was bigger.

Pros

Lots of interesting analytical techniques, they've stuffed just about everything they can think of into the space available. If you are looking for experience there is about something for everyone. Solid QA and documentation techniques usually followed. Very flexible work schedule.

Cons

Management is often dismissive of employee concerns and suggestions. Very reluctant to update facilities and internal processes. General attitude among staff is very negative and there is a lack of professionalism that was surprising. Lack of structure and set schedule that can interfere with work flow. Management's solution to most problems is to tell everyone to work more overtime, which is great if you want overtime, but not so much for the health of the lab in the long run. Technology infrastructure is very outdated. Lack of communication between management and lab staff concerning incoming or outgoing clients that could impact lab production.
