Pros

The people at Gallo are undoubtedly some of the best in the business - driven, innovative, and deeply talented. Historically, employees have felt a strong sense of loyalty to the company because Gallo has reciprocated that loyalty through an exceptional culture. Gallo remains committed to innovation, consistently bringing new products to market each year across a broad portfolio of brands spanning all categories in BevAl. This gives team members the opportunity to develop deep, well rounded industry knowledge. The company also demonstrates a genuine dedication to training, development, and mobility - offering meaningful opportunities for both upward and lateral growth.

Cons

Maternity leave has been reduced from 13 weeks to 9 weeks, making Gallo’s policy one of the least competitive among top BevAl companies. For a family owned company that has long emphasized the importance of family, this change sends a discouraging message to female employees, many of whom have built their entire careers here. The manner in which this change was communicated (during an optional virtual meeting with no indication on the agenda that a major policy change would be announced) compounded the concern. RTO policies are also being applied inconsistently across the country. Some locations retain full flexibility, others are required to come in part time, and others full time, creating inequities across similar roles. This is particularly challenging for employees in sales and field facing positions who already spend significant time traveling and working outside standard hours.

Pros

* Historically, a company people were genuinely proud to work for—strong culture, clear values, and a sense of loyalty *I could have seen myself building a long-term career here and often spoke highly of the company to others *Strong early-career development and brand recognition

Cons

*Erosion of trust driven by abrupt, poorly communicated decisions *5-day in-office mandate for some offices rolled out with ~2 months notice, removing autonomy employees previously had, adding unnecessary strain to already demanding roles, and significantly disrupting employees’ day-to-day lives *Parental leave benefits were significantly reduced in a way that feels misaligned with the culture and “family-owned” values the company has historically emphasized. This change has been a meaningful source of frustration and disappointment for many employees *Poor communication on major changes—including benefits and office policy updates, which were not consistently or transparently shared *Employee feedback does not appear to be meaningfully incorporated into decision-making, even when concerns are raised through formal channels * The culture has shifted dramatically. What used to feel fun and energizing now feels rigid and overly monitored, with less trust and autonomy than before *As a result, the company risks losing strong, previously loyal employees and becoming less competitive in attracting new talent
