Pros
Usually a positive work atmosphere, most employees work remote, company is very concerned with employee safety, management has been approachable and treat employees well, excellent benefits, good work/life balance of time
Cons
Not many cons until 2025. It has always been really great company to work for, but in late 2024-early 2025 GAF Energy lied to all employees and promised everyone in company-wide video meetings that their jobs were secure and that employee retention was very important during the merger with GAF Energy's parent company, GAF. In December and January they told everyone that no one needed to worry about losing their jobs because of the merger. Then GAF Energy unexpectedly laid off at least 75-100 people in early February 2025, most of which were employees who were the most experienced team members who had been with the company since it started in 2021. The mid-level managers and other valuable team members that they chose to lay off were almost all very well-liked and highly respected people who were really good at their jobs and had built teams, opened new markets, and worked hard to expand the sales and installation of Timberline Solar Shingles across the US. Now those of us that are left are expected to pick up the slack and take on additional work that was previously the responsibility of employees were were laid off. Team morale is all departments at GAF Energy is very low right now and the newer/inexperienced/lower-paid employees who are left are trying to run the business without the support of their friends and mentors. Basically they unexpectedly laid off a lot of their best people and now management is going to replace them with cheaper, more inexperienced employees to save the company money now. I loved my job until the layoffs happened last month. There is new talk of outsourcing some positions that are currently filled by long-term employees. I've started looking for a new job in case they are planning to lay me off or outsource my job in the near future too.
