Pros

Better pay and benefits than most retail employers. Wage isn't worthy of drawbacks to being in between upper management and hourly associates. Either stay at a full time hourly associate or aim for the top if you're willing to go through ridiculous hurdles to get there. And that's only if you're promoting manager likes you.

Cons

Being in middle management isn't an easy position. It would be much better if every level of management was on the same page with discipline, etc and favouritism wasn't so prevalent, the environment would be more positive. Added stress and tasks while cutting hours. Too many programs handed down by corporate to "help" customer service but no true viable way to be successful. And to add on more stress.... Expect all depts to back up check up front at the drop of a hat.... Even if you're helping a customer. You're expected to give top notch customer service while being forced to rush, rush, rush. A lot of counter productive guidelines make for unhappy associates.

Pros

If you have good relationship with your manager and you can trust them to have your back, it is an amazing place to work, and you will find success easy.

Cons

If you have lost the confidence of your manager, or have bad communication with your manager, it makes it very hard to be seen and be successful.

Pros

Job can be fun and interesting Always something new to learn Lots of personal fulfillment as a manager when things go right

Cons

Unsupportive upper management Toxic work culture, unpaid overtime is rewarded and even expected or forced, even to the tune of multiple weeks in a row with no days off when you are salaried. They claim to support work life balance but even the smallest effort to set boundaries is heavily punished. Not paid as much as we should be for everything we have to do and deal with
