Pros
None. zilch, none, zero, thought about it and honestly there is nothing good about the job or company.
Cons
First of all the recruiter on 3 different occasion's asked me what I was making on my current job at the time,40,000 a year, and told me how bad that was and then each time told me 60,000 + would be what I would make as a class-A delivery driver with FAS. That is a BIG FAT LIE. A 5 day work week results in right at 70 hrs. and gross around 960. This is peak season and you sure cant work past 70 hrs, so when things slow down after Christmas 3-4 days a week will become the norm. According to other class -A drivers, 45,000 is about as good as it gets. That's about a 25% difference in what Jay will tell you that you will make. Now let me tell you what you will have to do to earn that 45,000. You will get your next day assignment only if you call and get it yourself and it means you will start your day between 2 am- 6 am and you better not start your logs when you get there because you cant use the 16 hour rule but once in a week. I was told as a class-A driver my load would be loaded before I got there. Guess what? Not only is it not loaded, half the time you have to help unload inbound trailer from Charlotte to get to your freight and then load your trailer and if your freight is there and waiting to be loaded good luck getting a door to back into as FAS shares 7-8 dock doors with 2 other companies. Pathetic. It is a physical job and I am ok with that, but God forbid you are short one piece at any of your stops. After you have recounted two to three times, went back to the trailer, which could be up to a quarter of a mile away, and searched the trailer for the piece, you call it in and then get talked down to like you don't know how to count and after talking to two to three people you are COMMANDED to do what you have already spent 10- 20 minutes doing before you called it in. Knowing your day is stretched to the max the last thing you need is a customer service rep making your day even more stressful and longer. Pack your lunch because you will barely have time to use the bathroom, let alone grab something to eat. When you have finished your last stop and all you are thinking about is getting back to the terminal before you run out of hours, you are expected to find a McDonalds or Comfort Inn somewhere in your route back that you can park a 70 ft vehicle in, sit there for another 10-20 minutes or longer waiting for your scanner to reboot, twice, connect to their internet and then send the days info. When you get back to the terminal you get to do this again for the Gap stores. If you get back late which will happen more times than not there will be no where to park but in somebodys way or at a dock door and somebody will say something to you about that too, because remember their are least two other companies needing these few precious doors. I REGRET LEAVING MY OTHER JOB FOR THIS PATHETIC, MOST MISERABLE JOB IVE EVER HAD. If you have any income at all, please do not come to work for this company, I promise , you too will regret it.
