Pros

The location wasn’t bad, got to meet some nice people

Cons

This is one of the strangest places I’ve ever worked, and thankfully one of the shortest times I’ve spent at a company (for my own wellbeing). It’s owned by a husband and wife, who dictate to their staff as if they are running a crèche rather than a business (thankfully I didn’t receive this first hand, but the fact it happens is atrocious). Roles are completely made up in my opinion, as a customer service representative, we were in charge of processing new quotes/orders, chasing the warehouse for these orders to be shipped and checking they were packaged correctly, asking the customer if they’d like to short ship constantly, organising the courier, having to deal with ignorant sales staff who think you are their PA and really put the pressure on as well as the customers themselves. Not to mention, the system they use is abysmal, it’s barely even a system, it’s all more or less manual - taking orders from email threads between clients with broken English/minimal information and the sales reps. There is no training essentially, they expect you to know everything from the get go somehow. I was sincerely shocked at how this company is even successful after seeing how the place is ran. So many red flags from top to bottom, as I said, avoid for your own mental wellbeing. Oh and I almost forgot, they make you sign an NDA, lock your personal belongings away & sign an agreement that says they can terminate you if they find you on your mobile phone. They just don’t care about you as a person at all, a proper dictatorship in my eyes.

Pros

No supportive or positive aspects

Cons

• Unrealistic workload, particularly when acting as the sole marketing resource across multiple brands for an extended period • Lack of independent and consistent HR support; HR responsibilities appeared to change frequently and lacked clear structure • Disciplinary process following a period of bereavement and disability-related absence felt predetermined rather than impartial • Final written warning issued despite medically certified absence related to bereavement and a recognised health condition • Limited understanding and support for chronic health conditions and disabilities • Phased return to work only facilitated due to additional resource, rather than as standard support • Experience of a serious, life-threatening medical condition, with concerns regarding how this was handled and the confidentiality of medical information • Workplace culture concerns, including repeated instances of inappropriate and undermining behaviour from a colleague, which appeared to be widely experienced across the team • Lack of effective management intervention in addressing inappropriate colleague behaviour • Lack of empathy and consistency in handling employee wellbeing, bereavement, and health-related matters

Pros

- Modern facility - Free parking - Working alongside some (but very few) good staff who deserve much better

Cons

Unfortunately, Fortress Diagnostics has more issues than it has the ability to fix. The management are oblivious to the culture that has been fostered around them and the 2 star company score means nothing to them. Believe every bad review. Management have no idea about employee welfare or care. An employee is a number, paid to do what is asked of them and absolutely nothing more. Staff who have given years of their life to the company are ignored and belittled. New staff are used as scapegoats for management mistakes. Bullying is engrained in the company values backed up by a network of whispering spies. Expect on day one of joining the company to be given a desk and a chair but zero plan for how to be onboarded. The story goes on…
