Pros

You work remote. That’s it, only plus.

Cons

This company thinks that a spreadsheet in google sheets constitutes organization/process. No project, which is great when everyone works remote. Orientation is a 30 min PowerPoint presentation designed by a kindergartener, who incidentally also designed their websites. So in the end you’re left asking a lot of questions and waiting for answers. My personal story: I’m an email marketer, been at it for 6 years now, pretty good at it. I was hired to be a marketing consultant at Fortimize. The role encompassed using tools I’ve never used before, I told them this in the interview. They insisted I had the right skills for the job, and I thought I must since the only test they gave me before being hired was a coding test, which I easily passed. I turned down two other job offers and accepted the role because I felt with this role and company I’d get to learn new skills and grow professionally. Two months later I was let go. When asked why I was told,”I don’t have to tell you.” Yeah, that’s what kind of company this is. Fire a guy without even telling him why. I pushed for info and eventually was told that I’m not qualified for the role. Duh! We knew this going into it but apparently training and career growth wasn’t on their minds, they expected that just by hiring me I’d miraculously learn the things I didn’t know. When I didn’t absorb the info through osmosis, I was let go. What should you take out of this? If they offer you a job, make sure you are an expert in every little bit of it, or be prepared for a short tenure. Also, they are really proud of their benefits for some reason. 10 days of pto for vacation and sick combined. Most startups offer unlimited pto. Most other companies offer something like 10-15 vacation, 3-5 days sick, 2 personal days. Fortimize: 10 days, that’s it. Just wanted to mention that, I was lied to during the interview process and told it was more. At least you’ll be informed.

Hi! First I'd like to take the time to thank you for writing us this feedback. It's important for us to understand how we can further improve our internal processes to ensure everyone of our employees is happy and on the path to success and personal fulfillment. That said, we'd like to thank you for your services as they were/are appreciated. Our internal team utilizes many tools, Google Docs, being one of them. We use this for collaborative purposes alongside other tools such as Salesforce, Confluence, Zoom, Slack, Proprietary Forecasting Applications, and a full arsenal of products and tools we use to keep the team informed and up to date. Being that you were straightforward in your ability to utilize some of our proprietary tools, we implemented processes and trainings for our employees tool kit to ensure everyone has the ability to learn and master them. In some cases, it can become challenging for some to grasp the concepts within a reasonable amount of time. We believe in offering opportunity for employees to run for their goals and tackle issues head on with self betterment and of course internal trainings and mentoring. Aside from formal training, we always look to hire candidates who are eager to jump into a new area with confidence knowing that they'll be supported internally with trainings and mentorship, but there is a degree of ownership the candidates take on. We can provide all the training and mentorship possible, but if the employee isn't willing to do their own exploration, it will be a tad more challenging. I apologize for the way in which you were informed of your termination. It's definitely not the manner in which it is conducted on a normal basis. This is also something which we've taken back to our C-Suite and off the back of it, implemented a far more rigid and required protocol for the release of our employees. The new standard will allow former employees to understand exactly what areas needed improvement and the clarity they needed in order to understand why they have been terminated. Additionally, we include plenty of opportunity for questioning and conversation to ensure everyone is on the same page prior to parting ways. In regards to our PTO Model, our current standard is 3 weeks paid vacation, which also comes with 5 sick days and 1 volunteer day off to give back to the community. We are also working towards a far more robust PTO policy (unlimited PTO). This will be rolled out within the calendar year. When it comes to your advice, we've taken it to heart and brought on a good amount of executives and high level consultants to ensure we have a strong organization and setting up the company and it's employees for success. Again, I thank you for your time, effort, and feedback. It will only make us better! From the Fortimize Family, we wish you the best of luck in the future!

Pros

This company walks the talk when it comes to its values — they don’t just have them on posters; they live and breathe them every day. The culture is rooted in being people-first, taking ownership, and giving back to our communities. It’s one of the few places I’ve worked where collaboration and growth isn’t just encouraged — it’s second nature. Everyone genuinely supports one another, and leadership sets the tone by being approachable, transparent, and mission-driven.

Cons

Because the company is full of passionate, driven people, it’s easy to find yourself wanting to say “yes” to everything. The culture encourages ownership and collaboration — which is amazing — but it also means learning to balance priorities and protect focus time. Leadership recognizes this and continues to emphasize balance and boundaries.
