Pros

Sense of community and support from coworkers and from other teams. Never a dull moment and keeps me engage. Currently mapping out a career growth plan for the HR team. New Director is approachable, nice, and knows her stuff. Excited to see her vision for the HR team.

Cons

Fast paced and high volume so you have to be ready and on your game.

Pros

I loved most everyone in the building, with a few exceptions. Very friendly and helpful team in the Payroll Department. The current manger, Krista, is amazing. I loved most of my clients, I was able to build a great report with many of them. I actually loved my job and my time at Focus. Fun atmosphere - lunch parties, potluck, cookie contests at Christmas, a fun holiday party, and even access to go to the Centurion's party. Also, "Puppy Fridays" when you can bring your dog to work is awesome!

Cons

Complete lack of communication from the HR Department to the Payroll Department. As a Payroll Specialist you are expected to be the point of contact for your clients, but HR leaves you in the dark about what is going on, so you often don't know how to handle client's inquiries about issues they are having. There is also not a clear metric for who-does-what between Payroll and HR; it's very frustrating. There is a high turnover in the building, so you never really seem to know who is doing what job and therefore you don't know who in the building to contact when your client has, say a benefits or worker's comp questions. Also, I witnessed a fellow Payroll Specialist get reprimanded for a mistake her client made; even with email proof of what the client had said to the PRS the company chose to believe the client when they said the PRS had messed up. It makes one feel as if they are walking on pins and needles.
