Best to avoid working here - Group Technology Fletcher Building Employee Review

Ever since the CIO in 2019 left, the group technology division has been plagued with a constant poor selection of CIOs since. After 4 years here, we have had 4 x CIO changes. That speaks for itself. The CIO from 2020 - 2022 was not a people person and took a very rigid approach to things. At the time, I thought that is as bad as it gets. Then came the current CIO now in 2023. He gave the perception of relating to the people by having coffee catch-ups but every feedback from attendees indicated how he spoke the whole time and was largely a one way conversation. After being here a year, he announced at a town hall that he won’t be restructuring and gave a speech about getting ready for a tight financial year. He contradicts himself a week later and people are made redundant. No farewells for departing people and was very defensive when questioned in the following town hall. He surrounds himself with order-taking leaders who only find out about his significant decisions days before. None are willing to speak on behalf of the employees against this toxic culture he has since created. Townhalls are also heavily censored by the recently hired communications person. Questions are intentionally removed and reworded before it’s presented. There is an escalation culture where every issue is brought up directly to the senior leadership team indicating a complete lack of trust on their own teams. I wanted so badly to give my best to this company especially after being hired by the CIO that was here from 2015 - 2019. He was truly an inspirational and people leader. If you enjoy an environment where you do as you are told, this company may work for you. If you are hoping to make a difference in hope they embrace your creativity in a collaborative environment, this group technology division is the wrong place to be. It’s with hope that the group technology leadership team is cleared out in time and actually be replaced by real innovators that truly embrace the value and creativity of their employees.
