Pros

I liked the team I worked with (especially other junior staff), and the office was in a good spot, these positives were outweighted by some much larger problems.

Cons

First off, there was a definite culture of favoritism among the higher ups, which made for a toxic atmosphere. They emphasized kindness, empathy, and being open, but some senior leaders clearly favored certain people, which made everyone else feel undervalued and unappreciated. This was really obvious due to the open office layout- you could watch it happening daily. Senior leadership was constantly vague in their communication, and we'd often be left in the dark about big company changes until they had happened or were already happening. This lack of transparency, along with giving misleading reasons for letting people go, definitely leads to high turnover and made it hard to trust anyone. The workload at Fishman PR is unreasonable. We were each assigned way too many accounts (some people on 13 or 14!), which led to everyone being exhausted and burned out. The company culture definitely pushed for long hours; you felt like you had to come in early and stay late, even longer than the typical workday. On top of that, there is no overtime pay and a not-so-great salary, which made the job even more draining financially and emotionally. Employee wellbeing is another concern. People were discouraged from taking sick days or personal time, and often came into the office sick. Not having any PTO for the first six months made this worse. We only got some major holidays off, but you will always work the day before and the day after. Like the other reviews have said, it seems like they only give time off when they absolutely have to. Two other things really bothered me: the company really lacked diversity, and it doesn't seem like a priority for leadership. Also, I regularly observed senior leaders sharing personal information about employees with other staff members, which is unprofessional and uncomfortable. I really hope Fishman PR can address these issues to create a fairer and more supportive workplace.
