Pros
I worked for CQ Roll Call. The reporters are outstanding and trying their best to uphold the high standards of a long-standing DC institution. The company fails to appreciate their hard work and its value. Health plan coverage and options are pretty solid.
Cons
CQ suffered several rounds of layoffs, as did departments across the company. High level leadership was careful not to address layoffs directly, other than to have direct managers communicate that no additional layoffs were planned. But there were always more within the next year. There have been more in the year since I left, in addition to hiring delays or decisions not to backfill essential roles. Nobody felt secure at the company. Several HR heads have left or been laid off in as many years.
