Pros

the pay was good. Considering that all you're doing is going to these kids' houses and going over random subjects to fill out miscellaneous worksheets, the work is easy.

Cons

1.) The owner, Mark, did not pay me for over 6 weeks. I've had to consult with legal advice. 2.) There is zero training. They just throw you into it. I had no education, no tutoring experience and he knew that. They didn't provide any resources unless I asked for it. They didn't go over any of the paperwork until I filled it out incorrectly. 3.) Because of the way the school systems push kids through, you have to attempt to teach a child algebra who should be on remedial arithmetic, which is nearly impossible.

Pros

It’s a really small business, ran by a super nice lady named Lori. I love that I don’t have to answer to a bunch of managers or higher-ups and I like the freedom of being an independent contractor. As long as I show up when I’m scheduled to everything is super chill and I love the kids most of all.

Cons

The only thing I don’t like is having to say goodbye to a student.

Pros

I have worked as a Math and Science tutor for First Class Tutors for seven years and really enjoy it. It is a rewarding part time job with a lot of flexibility. In order to be hired, you have to demonstrate that you have thorough subject knowledge and an ability to teach. I have always been paid on time and would recommend the job. - Flexible schedule - Competitive pay - Relationships with students and family - Rewarding to help students raise their grades and gain confidence. I work a day job in Orange County and Lori (CEO) will always find me students that are close to my work or on my route home so I don't have to do much extra driving.

Cons

Tax filing does cost a bit more since you work as a contractor, but all materials, miles, and vehicle expenses can be deducted. Works well for me since all my students are along my commute from home to my full-time day job.
