Pros

Some colleagues were genuinely friendly and supportive. The company promotes a queer-friendly work environment in its policies.

Cons

Toxic Work Environment: Despite the company's declarations of a queer-friendly and supportive work environment, my experience was far from it due to a particularly nasty and inappropriate individual brought in to help the kitchen. This individual was kept around for their work on the budget and ‘turning the kitchen around,’ but their negative impact on staff was significant. They were generally rude, belittling, and controlling, often speaking badly about staff behind their backs. They made numerous inappropriate comments to me, including an admission to 'accidentally' sexually assaulting someone, implying it was a common or relatable 'mistake.' I was also told that I could not attend therapy sessions due to staffing issues, even though this had been agreed upon at the beginning of my employment—ironic for a 'feel good' club. Other staff members shared similar negative experiences and feelings about this individual's presence. Management was informed but did not deal with the issue promptly. Despite assurances that this person would be instantly dismissed, they remained for several weeks. Delayed and Inadequate Payment: I noticed an underpayment on payday, which took over 10 days to rectify. Despite chasing the issue every day, I had to be the one to identify the missing shifts. Payment was delayed further because the owners were at a festival, which is unprofessional and unacceptable. This is on top of poor payment for the amount of work I was doing, being paid minimum wage by a company that boasts a large brand and seems financially comfortable. The company preaches mental health and support but treats its staff poorly. My experience, along with others', highlights the discrepancy between the company's stated values and actual practices. The company's failure to act on reported issues, coupled with the unprofessional handling of payroll, showcases a significant gap between their brand image and reality.

Pros

after hearing them closing and seeing a comment about their glass door reviews exposing who “they really are” i felt compelled to write this, yes things at the venue were not perfect but it was for certain the best hospitality venue i had ever worked at and i know for certain 90% of these reviews came from one particular staff member who left on bad terms and made it their mission to destroy the reputation (heard this first hand) pros were definitely a level of support and understanding from the management and bosses i hadn’t experienced else where, people were regularly allowed extra breaks, be late, call in sick if they were struggling and it was easy to speak to the owners. paid break and staff meals and even took staff on a team break away to thank us for a busy summer and pride weekend. i saw that the owners worked hard to try and make a hospo venue something different to what you usual get, a cog in a machine and i did feel valued.

Cons

it wasn’t perfect, staffing was tight at times and it was stretched with long days but i preferred doing that there than in other places where nobody even thanked you when you left.

Pros

I started my chef career at Feel Good Club, they motivated me to improve and pushed me do better. I worked with the best head chef and the manager was very responsive to my concerns and needs as an employee. They always tried to make it as friendliest as possible while maintaining a healthy and professional boundaries. Even though I no longer work there and branched out, that place well always be one of the best places I have worked at, and I work in a lot of restaurants as a freelance chef who has experienced so many different environments yet I could say FGC is my favourite and special place to me and that could not have happened without the existence of the staff and everyone that made it to be that way.

Cons

I don’t have specific cons to mention or at all, I’m sure there are always pros and cons but nothing come to mind that I could mention because the Pros were prevalent and the issues that I faced were always communicated with the team and sorted.
