Pros

I loved working in the early AM hours, which allowed me to work a second job in the early afternoon. Great job if you like to constantly be moving and want to essentially be paid to work out. Hard work does seem to pay off.

Cons

HR was extremely impersonal and difficult to reach, likely because of the constant revolving door of employees. My line was almost always understaffed and you're expected to pick up the slack of lazy employees. In peak season I worked 6-7 days a week, 12am-10am with no breaks. Literally had to sprint to the bathroom and back to the line. Management rewarded our hard work with CFA biscuits...that we had to eat while loading trucks. The buildup of packages with so few bodies to sort and load was complete dangerous. Too many oversized packages for too small trucks. Tripping hazards everywhere, poor communication (lucky if you had a radio on the line), was spoken to negatively for hitting the stop button on belt for a chemical spill. I ultimately hurt my shoulders from a large TV falling over onto my back...old my supervisor (who was great and tried her best to be supportive under the terrible conditions) but nothing ever came of it. The situation was definitely unique - we were dealing with a major influx due to a pandemic as well as peak holiday season. FedEx was not prepared and didn't do much to address safety issues that were present every single day.

Pros

Easy to apply, fast to get hired (no interview process) and the pay

Cons

Very rude management, lack of care for safety, no drinkable water (all filters are in the red and have been since I started) They have cameras everywhere and are constantly watching you but say you can’t bring your own phone in because “people steal them”? There is junk everywhere. Lots of trash everywhere (employees drinks and food). They want you to work and eat on the line instead of giving you breaks to do so. They get upset when you use the bathroom or fill your water bottle even if you’ve been working for 3 hours straight but if you clock in at an area 2 min walking distance from your work area you’re “stealing time” I’ve noticed people of color get treated differently. The HR department has some of the most prejudice employees so there’s no real equality if you have conflict with someone. I’ve never been, but it feels like a prison to go in and out of the building and lastly you don’t work a consistent schedule. You leave when they say you can.
