Pros

- Fruits are provided to promote a healthy lifestyle. - Every non-holiday Wednesday, employees receive complimentary lunch. - Employees have access to complimentary workout sessions. - Some (and only some) colleagues are friendly and willing to assist whenever they are available. - The company participates in various activities, including charitable events and tree-planting initiatives, where employees are encouraged (or compulsory) to join such activities. - The location is considered convenient.

Cons

- Resources are frequently severely constrained in comparison to other mid-tier companies. - Achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) can be arduous. They can serve as a distraction rather than a source of motivation, as the primary focus tends to be on devising strategies to attain KPIs rather than completing tasks. Additionally, KPIs can be unrealistic in some instances. - It is challenging to express our thoughts, even when management is receptive to communication. - The employee turnover rate is surprisingly high. The retention rate is low based on observation. This may be attributed to the relatively toxic management style. - Employees are required to wear a blazer at all times during working hours, regardless of the hot and humid weather in Singapore. While it does project a professional image, it is actually somewhat unnecessary and impractical in a dynamic modern society. - Attendance at all meetings is mandatory, even in the absence of any notable reporting from all departments.. - Flexible working arrangements are available, although they appear to be quite limited, except in cases of valid reasons such as childbirth, absence of a caregiver, or emergency situations such as break-ins to one’s residence. Otherwise, employees are expected to be present in the office at all times. - Expect being required to work overtime, regardless of whether it is peak or non-peak seasons. There is a possibility that your superior will have a meeting with you shortly before the end of your workday, and they will expect you to remain in the office until a specific time, even if you have other private matters during that day. - Employees will receive a “gentle” reminder (maybe even a warning letter) when you are late to work, even by a mere few minutes. However, they will not be held accountable if you choose (or are forced) to work overtime. The sole positive aspect is the provision of meal and taxi allowances for overtime work conducted within specific time frames. However, compelling reasons must be presented for such requests. - Some colleagues are overly intrusive and rude. They engage in negative discussions about others behind their backs. It is advisable for them to mind their own affairs and focus on their work instead. - Be cautious about what you say, as people may interpret it differently from your intended meaning. Individuals in the office can be quite toxic. - May treat resigned staff members unfavourably.

FOZL is a rare gem when it comes to workplace culture. There is no micromanagement here — employees are trusted to manage their responsibilities independently, which creates a truly stress-free and empowering environment. Taking leave is hassle-free as every team has a backup buddy system, ensuring smooth operations and peace of mind when you're away. What really stands out is the way FOZL cares not just for employees, but for their families as well. Recently, the company gifted all staff a custom tea cup to be presented to their parents for Parent’s Day — a thoughtful touch that reflects its family-first values. During the June school holidays, FOZL invited employees to bring their children to work, organizing art classes and free lunch for them. This kind of initiative goes a long way in promoting work-life integration and making staff feel truly supported. The company is also generous with regular gifts and appreciation gestures, which adds to the positive work culture.

Cons

As the company continues to grow and now has a larger team, you may occasionally encounter colleagues who focus more on giving negative feedback, even when the company’s intentions are good. While this doesn’t reflect the overall culture, it can be a minor challenge in an otherwise positive environment. If you’re looking for a company that values freedom, trust, and genuine care for both you and your loved ones, FOZL is a fantastic place to grow your career.

The company provides a well-structured onboarding experience, including a welcome kit, orientation program, and clear guidance to help new hires integrate smoothly into the team. HR is professional and efficient in managing both onboarding and offboarding processes. Beyond work, the company organizes various team bonding events to foster a positive and collaborative culture. There are also numerous staff benefits available. The office is conveniently located just a short walk from Lau Pa Sat.

Cons

While the company actively promotes staff welfare and provides various benefits, there is still room for improvement in internal communication and managing expectations. Some employees tend to focus on negatives despite the support provided, which can affect team morale. Constructive feedback is encouraged, but it's important that it's shared with the intention to improve, not just to complain.
