Pros

Collegial; calm work environment; staff want to do good work to support the federal judiciary; has good work-life balance (employees not expected to make their work/job their life); work schedule flexibility.

Cons

Limited mobility, lateral or upward, due to the fact that staff remain in their positions for a long time (several years or more or until retirement).

Pros

--Nice work-life balance in that employees are not expected to work extra hours to get work done. Employer is understanding and flexible when medical and/or family issues might have an impact or can conflict with work availability. --Collegial, relaxed but professional atmosphere

Cons

Limited opportunities for advancement. Employees work there for decades; most until retirement. As a result, the position that x-employee was hired for might end-up being their permanent position until he/she leaves the FJC (Federal Judicial Center), whether that is due to the employee finding employment elsewhere or simply retiring.
