Pros
The design side of the agency often produce some great work and I was lucky enough to work with some creative and experienced people.
Cons
Finally like to be called a ‘family’, but, as many will already know, this translates as ‘unprofessional’ in every meaning of the word, with no impartial HR and no way to raise genuine concerns. Unprofessional attitudes come from the top down with regular negative discussions about clients as well as current and former employees. They are proud of their ‘blag it and see’ attitude to pitches and public speaking. By far the biggest problem at Finally is the senior leadership’s unprofessional attitudes and favouritism. If you happen to be able to win favour with the senior leadership through whatever means, you will be afforded many perks such as being taken out for meals and drinks, going to whichever conferences you want to, and being able to move your role away from doing ‘the work’. Most importantly, you will be defended regardless of your harassing or unprofessional behaviour towards other staff. Needless to say, if you are not a favourite your life can be made very miserable and will undoubtedly affect your mental health. Hours clients have paid for regularly exceeded the number of working hours in the month, and that’s before you consider meetings, reporting, training or extras that crop up daily. Some members of staff have been given titles that neither describe their level of experience nor their role within the company. This obviously has morale implications while at the company, but it also gives an unfair advantage to those ‘favourites’ when they move on. The staff turnover rate is incredibly high which speaks volumes. The examples I could give of this company destroying people’s confidence and having massively detrimental effects on mental health are unending. - People have been told to train up their manager or leave. - Numerous content writers went home one day and were never seen again. - Managers told junior staff to ‘Google it and work it out yourself’. - Senior leadership blatantly lied to staff. - Inappropriate sexual comments have been made. - Senior management ignored all suggestions unless they come from a 'favourite' - even if the exact same suggestion is made by another staff member. - On more than one occasion staff were ignored for their entire notice period.
