Pros

The base salary is good.

Cons

No 401k match even after being sold on it in the interview , indefinitely No education reimbursement Lied and said there would be no layoffs while planning layoffs Laid off the senior most people on the team to stick fresh college graduates with immense amounts of work and no one to train them how to do it Their computer systems are from the Stone Age They have no problem lying to their employees or the media Salaries are frozen, indefinitely, so every year you make less than the last with no 401k match and increasing cost of living Took away cost of living bonus from employees they forced to relocate and expats leaving them making less and living in high COL places They changed the performance system so that they can reach you however you want, no matter how much it differs from the previous year, and they increased the amount of people that had to be in the lowest rated category so that they could blame them and fire them instead of laying them off which is what it actually was Just don’t work here. I really, really regret it and I will be out the door the second the next opportunity presents itself. I have no loyalty to the company as they showed me very early they have no loyalty for me Exxon is a sinking ship, titanic if you will They try to sell you on staying with the company based on the pension that doesn’t vest until three years after you start but who cares about that when you’re losing out on 7 7.5% 401(k) match that you were promised in your offer letter? Certainly not millennials and gen Z I will tell you that much!

Pros

Good opportunities for networking and travel.

Cons

A significant HR issue between interns occurred during my internship and was handled very poorly. Once the matter came to HR’s and leadership’s attention, it was not officially resolved until months after the internship had ended. The VP privately apologized for the situation, but the overall response was inadequate and felt as though the situation was being swept under the rug. The lack of timely communication and follow-up created a very uncomfortable environment for a young intern and significantly impacted what was otherwise a positive internship experience.
