Pros

I've been working as a remote sales agents for over 10 years and this has been, by far, my finest experience. After your initial training period of a month and a month getting your feet wet, you are allowed to select your hours. The Sales team takes inbound calls every day, so you can work M-F or any combination of days and shifts. That's cool! After training you are assigned to a team of about 20 other reps ad you have a Team Lead. Each week you have a team meeting and a private 1:1 with your TL to work on your success metrics. The pay is competitive and is excellent for the top 10% of the more than 200 sales reps. Base pay is $15, with attendance, call conversion percentage commissions and other bonuses available. For example. I am in the top 5% of reps, based on total storage unit rentals and my regular 'take home' paycheck average is $1,150 twice a month, with a commission and attendance commission/bonus amount is $1,400. That totals $3,700 deposited to my checking account monthly. That grosses out to over $53K, or $26/hr. Excellent for remote gigs. The management is outstanding! Understanding, with no micromanaging here. You have access to all levels of management, from your immediate superior (your Team Lead) to HR, the Sales Director, IT, even the CEO. You have access to a myriad of metrics related to your performance. This allows you to pinpoint areas that are costing you money and ways to strengthen those areas. The primary metric used for agents is average conversion rate for the entire company over a three-month period-nicknamed The Floor. Here you can see where you compare to the average. A wonderful way to judge your value, without it being broadcast to the entire team' A particularly effective area for improvement is the ability to listen to other agents' calls. I have listened to over 40 different high performing agents and have found many techniques and methods to improve not only my closing skills, but also ways to have more fun. My final 'Pro' for working at ESS is that it is FUN! As stress-free as any job I've ever had, including being a top executive and a small business owner.

Cons

The pay, although quite acceptable for the top performers (and rightfully so), does tend to discourage the group hovering around the Floor, or below. Since the average is based on your prior and current three month performance, it is harder for these agents to move in to the upper echelon of compensation.

Pros

Solid schedule - 40 hours per week, not expected to be there more than that. No one looking over your shoulder constantly (unless you have a new DM, they can't seem to help it) Mostly great people to work with Local, immediate management does care and are helpful.

Cons

Very large rate increases really upset customers and that's just too bad. We are given word to tell them but it just isn't true. Putting more money in stock holder's pockets is the bottom line and it doesn't matter how much anger we have to deal with. You are absolutely expected to sell insurance to every renter. However, you must be careful because you aren't "insurance salesmen". You get a ding when you don't sell it. We are encouraged to use evasive language and rush through it so the renter thinks it's required without quite saying so. You would think this large of a corporation would have handymen available but it is so, so difficult to get the smallest repair done due to getting bids from vendors, turning them in, reminding the person you turned them in to what needs done maybe getting approval, then scheduling. By that time lights (or whatever) have been out for a month or 2. Benefits are very expensive and cover so little.
