Pros
Many people think of employment agencies as temp services and they steer clear of them. Honestly, this company is here to help you with employment. They have three types of employment opportunities; direct hire, temp to hire, and temp. They have certain clients that hire directly through them only. They also have clients that have challenges finding good help and they don't have the time interviewing so they outsource to Express. I had great pride in my job and it was very rewarding when I placed someone at a company and they were grateful for the work. I worked every position within the company, starting in one of the corporate offices in Oklahoma. I had the chance of meeting Bob Funk and even got to go to the corporate Christmas party and it was a blast!!! I never worked for an agency before Express and now have a few found love for the industry. Associates have plenty of opportunities with this company as long as they have great work ethic and a positive outlook. Sometimes work is slow and there isn't an open positions which fits the associate's skill but they get jobs in everyday. As long as you keep in contact with them and also try the other agencies in town too. You're bound to find something. Let them do the work search for you too.
Cons
Bob Funk's corporate offices require all women to wear skirts or dresses with panty hose. In the colder months, as long as corporate allows, we could wear slacks. We had daily meetings and everyone was required to get their sales calls done every week and was held accountable for not doing them. Working with the public and placing people to work is a challenge and sometimes it seems like you're on a roller coaster. You have employees who beg for work then they don't show or they turn out to be the worse employees, then you have people who don't qualify for any job with Express due to criminal background, drug test, precious employment and you have to explain to them why you cannot help them. Terminating employees is one of the worse parts of this job. You know they have a panic button under the front desk to silently alert the police? That says something about the risk of this position. You have to have a big heart and hold on to the good times because it is only for the good times that keep you going in this industry. You will lose plenty of sleep over this job and possibly end up like me and take antidepressants and anxiety pills. But it is very rewarding at times. This job is not for everyone. And some people thrive in the staffing industry and some people run from it.
