Pros
Over 55 individuals finding it difficult to 'crack' their local employment market -- and sense the reason is their age -- may register with Experience Works for trainee positions requiring minimal skill levels with local non-profit agencies. Pay: $7.50. Hours: 14-21 on average a week
Cons
Employment Works puts you on a payroll as a "trainee". No matter where you are or what you do, you are a "trainee". You will be stocking shelves, cleaning cages at animal shelters, receptionist work, serving up lunches at an elementary school. Not rocket science! Even if you are a senior rocket scientist -- you may be hauling lettuce boxes at the local food bank. If look past a bi-monthly paycheck which might just cover gas and food for the time you spent working to earn it, then ... go for it!
