Pros

Knowledgeable, experienced, compassionate higher education professionals at the student-service and middle management levels care deeply about the students and organizational mission. Many (of those left) have been at the institution for a decade or more.

Cons

New senior leadership is corporate and incompetent. No idea what they're doing in an attempt to restructure, with zero market research or data presented to staff. Complete lack of transparency, and they react defensively/aggressively when asked reasonable questions. Staff are being ordered to continue doing their jobs with no titles, no organizational structure, and zero confidence that they will still have that job the next day while senior leadership continues to 'figure out' what to do with them. Forget about career advancement or progression - everyone is too busy holding onto their jobs (and the extra work they've been handed from vacated positions that the institution won't fill) by the skin of their teeth. Benefits have been steadily reduced over the last 5 years. I get questions about layoffs daily.

Pros

There is a good work / life balance. Did not feel overly stressed and micromanaged because of my colleagues.

Cons

Where to start. From the moment of getting hired, it was very obvious to me this was a corporation pretending to be a caring higher ed university. Every decision they made is entirely for profit and to cut as many corners as possible. HR was fully onboard with allowing a toxic work environment to continue all because everyone at this company is a yes man going all the way up to the top, They are totally willing to sacrifice student learning and experience all for the next dollar. Genuinely one of the most poorly run companies I have ever seen full of toxicity from the ground up. Do not fall for it - this "university" does not care about you in the slightest!!
