Pros

If you really want to excel your career forward, this is a great place to be. Evonik Van is a contract company as a CDMO so there is a lot to be said in terms of fast pace environment, deadlines, stressful times and the whole nine yards. BUT, the experience that goes with that is beyond what you could possibly obtain at other biotech companies. If you have a good performance record, you can easily be transferred to other locations and industry as Evonik is a global company. People are good here and we want to have as much fun as possible at any time.

Cons

It is a fast pace environment. It just comes as a CDMO. You will be working against deadlines and changing deadlines often. One day you will have to complete something and the next day you will have to complete something completely different However, if you are good at time management, this wont be an issue. If you are not good at time management, you will either learn as fast as you can or struggle until you do. You can easily ruin your experience here if you don't have an open mind to adapt and be malleable to changing condition at all times. It's sometime difficult to work as a team as every function has their own idea of what is right and wrong. Not necessarily all bad but its not a place for people who want to clock in and clock out. But I think the biggest Con is Bureaucracy of the company as a whole. The Company is German based and they are comparatively very conservative in making decisions. especially time sensitive decisions. This can be annoying often.

Pros

Pay is good, bonuses are low, benefits have decreased every year Lunch in cafeteria is great Shift relief time was good, had enough time after work to be with family We sure miss Bonnie out there , she’s great.

Cons

Micromanaging - Extreme lack of trust Overall morale for the whole site is way down starting from 2018 Bias Backstabbing Incompetency - certain employees promoted to next level without actually knowing or understanding the process No work life balance, we’re told that doesn’t apply to production workers. Overtime hours avg 400-700 hours a year No room for employee growth or thoughts on process productivity/troubleshooting acknowledged if you’re not in the clique 3-2-2-3 shift schedule swapping from nights to day each time led to overall fatigue. Needs to be 2 weeks of nights and 2 weeks of days. HR is an overall joke, they used to be superb until COVID and the new site manager. Preach safety but turn a blind eye when it’s convenient to reach production. Then fault the operators or maintenance personnel if something happens.
