Pros
The company offered great benefits such as BCBSM health care, dental and vision. At times they were flexible on hours and paid time off. Since it is a non-profit organization, the work is meaningful.
Cons
In my experience at this company, the cons out weighed the pros by a long shot. The environment has passive aggressive undertones everywhere you go. I felt I was lied to and mislead often. I did not feel appreciated. My department was extremely unorganized and me and my team often were blamed for mistakes that were made by our boss. As a team, we were continuously frustrated and disappointed, and felt when we spoke our mind that our leaders could have cared less about us. It was difficult to do a good job with a leader who did not know how to lead us. I felt like no matter what I did, how hard I worked, it was never good enough. The supervisor I had didn't bring up issues that needed to be addressed until months after. Once I became pregnant, I felt I wasn't treated well and I was laid off shortIy before my maternity leave. I wasn't the only one in this company to experience this. The company tries to say that they treat everyone like family, and they truly care about their employees but I didn't experience it that way. I ended up being assigned to jobs that an intern would have been doing, and I wasn't able to grow in my field. Working here killed my self esteem, and frankly it was traumatic. I never want to work in a non-profit situation or an office situation for that matter ever again due to working at this organization.
