Pros

It's a startup, so everything is changing frequently. It's a good place to learn how to adapt to changing workplace.

Cons

There is in an insanely high turnover rate. I was employed for just over a year and can count 14 people in my department alone who I saw leave. While I was there, I was promised opportunities for advancement and growth. I taught trainings for no additional compensation, and was still expected to person as a full agent. We also were given mandatory call shifts that resulted in 12 hour days every 2-3 weeks, for no additional compensation. During that time we had to call back every missed call for 300+ venue partners. I was told I was on track for a promotion by the end of the next month. I had brought in $1 million in executed events in 12 months, even though the first month and a half was a training period. Before that happened, I had a minor indiscretion in my personal life. I freely admit it was not the best move on my part, however how work handled it was unacceptable. Long story short, I kissed someone who had once been involved with someone who was a known favorite of the company. Due to the "everyone is best friends" culture, I had become close to a fellow employee and told her about it. She let the girl in question know, and since she was hurt by something in my personal life, they decided to put off the promotion by multiple quarters. Their reasoning was I was untrustworthy and irresponsible for confiding in someone I worked with, despite in the same breath management suggesting we confide in them. After that I immediately began job hunting. Once I put in my notice, I was dead to them. Upper management would not look me in the eye, I was constantly looked down on, ignored, and just treated with hostility. I was not given an exit interview. I ended up sick on my final day, and since all my venue transfer work had been done at that point, and it was the slow season, I called out and decided to rest up instead. Since I did that, my direct manager was bad mouthing me to employees that were in the office and taking screenshots of my social media where I said it was unprofessional. She also pulled aside and yelled at anyone who told me what she said. Overall there is too little pay, and the cliquish behavior leads to an incredibly toxic and harmful workplace.

I’m truly sorry that you feel this frustrated about your experience here at Eventplicity. Our goal is for all of our team members to have both a great working environment and plenty of professional development opportunities. That said, I definitely have to respond and note that what you’ve written in this review ranges anywhere from gross mischaracterization to outright fabrication about your time here. Part of me wants to break down each topic and lay out the facts, but I don’t think that’s really helpful to anyone at this point. To anyone reading this review and considering working at Eventplicity, I would just emphatically ask that you come and meet the team and judge for yourself. We are certainly not perfect, and I would never claim to be. But we work very hard to be open, transparent, and responsive to feedback. Both myself and our management team are continuing to learn, grow, and improve as leaders. We see a lot of opportunity where we can improve and will continue to strive to do so. That said, it is our belief that the way we’re going to be successful is to create great experiences for our employees since we need amazing people on the team in order to be successful. That includes a healthy culture, a positive working environment, professional development plans, and growth opportunities. I do think it’s worth responding to the comments about compensation and “low pay”. This employee of course knew going in that we’re a resource constrained startup and she knew what her compensation would be. We are always 100% transparent about that. It’s definitely a very challenging job that requires a whole range of skills and everyone here works incredibly hard! And I would like to add that in the year that this employee was here, we have added 3 new promotion opportunities (with corresponding pay increases) that didn’t exist before, as well as a new model for paying extra for call shifts. There are plenty of challenges that we face as a high growth tech startup in the hospitality space. It’s not easy, but it is incredibly rewarding to build something together that is changing an industry. I’m extremely proud of what the team has accomplished to date and what we continue to accomplish together, and I happily extend an invitation to anyone interested to come meet the team and learn for yourself. Best, Bryan Edelstein CEO

Pros

Company is small enough that your input and thoughts make a big impact on crafting a culture and product Coworkers are there to help you learn and are just down-right enjoyable to work with There's always more work to be done. This is a great environment to constantly be striving for more and to crush the months goals. The upper level management enjoy communicating openly with the whole team. You feel like you get to have an extensive view of the inner workings of the company, as well as how you can help overcome some outstanding obstacles.

Cons

As with any small business, growing pains include process changes constantly and new faces every week. You need to be prepared to come into a workplace that will look very different in 6 months than it looks today. The best part is you'll have a hand in making that change though.
