Pros

After working in financial services for 18+ years and being involved w/ prescreen, preapproval and credit risk-related projects, I'm looking forward to learning more about the innerworkings of the credit bureau side of the equation and bringing my practical industry experience as a data analyst to bear on the role. So far everyone has been very welcoming, and I appreciate the smaller size of the company, compare to the larger employer I was with before.

Cons

While most of my experience has been positive, thus far, I have encountered issues with the benefits, specifically OptumRx and prescription coverage. Previously I paid $0 for a medication and was able to work directly with my doctor for prescriptions and follow-up. Here at EFX I am required to go through a third party who has their own requirements before they actually write the prescription. After going through the process to sign up and get my prescription filled, I was told it was going to end up costing me full price ($1000K+). I am now working directly with the manufacturer to see if I can get it cheaper. In addition to benefits challenges, I am also starting to see there are opportunities for improvement when it comes to role-specific training on resources, products, processes, and documentation, as well as the sheer number of products and understanding where to get the help you need for those products. There is some off-the-shelf documentation, but it is not very detailed, so you really have to know who to ask for help; therefore, I have spent quite a bit of time trying to build up my internal network in these first few weeks. Things can take a while to get done...seems sometimes like there are meetings to discuss the same thing, that don't really move the needle forward.

Pros

My direct manager. Comp plan if you’re lucky enough to find several whale clients, and if you’re lucky, the commission is approved.

Cons

There are a lot. First, office politics. Equifax expects employees to be very corporate and robotic. Metrics metrics metrics. 100% focused on revenue, not customers. Metrics, metrics, metrics. PIP overuse. Even when you’re 150% to yearly plan 6mo in, they expect 300%. Make sure to keep receipts. Senior management will find the most ridiculous ways to push reps out, continently right before a huge payout of a very delayed commission plan. (Sell something in Jan 2025, you will only get a fraction of commission until June 26). That’s if the exception committee approves payout (which never happens). If you sell a big deal, don’t expect to get paid 100% of what the plan says.
