Pros

Central location. Learn the quick wins in Sales. Some good people to learn from. An orange Chilli’s bottle when you join.

Cons

No diversity. If you’re a person of colour, be prepared to be paraded around on interviews. If you don’t perform like people used to (who are now in management roles) you’re viewed as an underperformer and put on a PIP - because if they could do it 5 years ago, why can’t you now? No consideration to the times changing and not everyone is the same. Zero motivation - that next role is dangled in front of you for months. You can move into X but only if you do Y despite months, sometimes years, worth of work. Usually if a campaign isn’t going well very and they need the extra meetings - why should my development be based on that alone? Salary is below average, don’t even dare think about discussing this between colleagues. They don’t want you to know they don’t pay fairly. People are put into management roles who quite frankly suck. This then creates an awful environment to grow and you can’t progress until they 1) realise they’re a bad manager and leave or 2) they somehow get promoted. HR have no real HR experience. Difficult conversations are made worse because they aren’t properly trained to manage those scenarios. E.g. you aren’t doing what they’ve hired you to do so they’re letting you go - no prior warning, no redundancy pay, no support whatsoever. Most of the “senior” females are in relationships with a director, VP or C level. Coincidence their development and benefits appear to be prioritised. This creates a level of unfairness where people aren’t promoted on their own merits. We all provide so much feedback about our experience on what was known as the “EngageIQ” platform but it goes nowhere. It makes me think they don’t have any money left to make it better.

EngageTech Response

Hi There, Thank you for the feedback. It’s disappointing to hear this was your experience of working at EngageTech, and would have loved to have tackled these issues whilst you were still working for the business or even in an HR run Exit Interview. Firstly, career and personal development is something we take very seriously at ET, and we have always do our upmost to ensure all employee's are treated fairly, progressing in their careers and developing as individuals. It is however always a work in progress, and likely before you left, you will have seen a number of individual and group feedback sessions from different cohorts across the business and are now in the process of making some positive changes on how this is managed at every level. As a business we mainly always promote from within, which creates more internal opportunity for progression. Whilst not everyone will achieve their desired promotion (as with any business) we have a multitude of examples of fast progression into management, Directorship and Account Executive roles, not to mention the progression across the SDR roles. With regards to redundancies and support of letting someone go, we have not made any redundancies across any of our EMEA offices. In the event of someone leaving the business, our HR team and managers will always ensure proper processes are followed, with a good level of employee aftercare with offboarding, inclusive of references, notice and commission payments and any other required helpful communication. Diversity is also something that is super important to us, being a large part of our headline Objectives and Key Results for last year. Whilst we are always trying to improve, we have made great strides in this area. One of those areas is more females deservedly in leadership roles, so it’s sad to hear you feel this was not the case. We place high value on feedback from employees, so it would be great to explore the other points in this review further that we have not been able to cover here, please email us directly on hr@engagetech.io to discuss this in more detail. Thank you

Pros

EngageTech's culture is unique and unlike any other. Earning potential is top tier. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is held to a high standard - you will be immersed within a global company. Development Training is challenging, but necessary!

Cons

As per the review headline, be prepared to get exposed to the nitty gritty foundational skills that will be necessary for any successful sales role. It's worth reiterating: working hard at this company is a REQUIREMENT! There's not a single person that cruises their way through the job - sorry. Standards are held high and expectations are assigned; however, you will have the biggest support team to back you every step of the way.

Pros

training can be helpful but feel like you could learn more from reading a sales book.

Cons

The culture here is very much of micromanaging each other. There are 1 million different rankings of SDR, and believe that every single one of them above you or on your level will be trying to micromanage you. Promotions are based off of favoritism and how visible you can make yourself on slack and in the office, regardless of if you actually contribute anything meaningful. Managers behave in a very unprofessional way. I am honestly shocked by some of the things I have seen and heard while working here. It does not feel like a serious work environment. And, there is no real HR support. Dishonest practices while cold calling. Encourage lying about who you are and where you are calling from. Not to mention they don’t provide necessary sales tools. Some campaigns are easier than others. They are also having employees write good reviews.
