Pros

My peers were competent and friendly. I liked my immediate supervisor.

Cons

Utter disaster in management. Company went bankrupt in 2012. I had been told in Dec of 2011 I was a key employee and they were going to keep me and give me a 20% bonus to stay. A month later, I was let go with no explanation. Actually YELLED at me while telling me I was being laid off when I told them that doing this was wrong and unethical to convince someone to stay and only a month later change their minds. Reneged on the bonus too. Besides that, there had been no raises for four years. As a PhD, I never got to go to a conference even when I was the PI on a project and the work was being presented (a tape recording was used!!!). No training or ability to go to conferences. Little to no ability to purchase equipment, supplies, materials, or make repairs to equipment. SEC filings were inaccurate. Were told that we had to take ownership of projects and give 100% (ok, I can agree with this). However, at a following all hands on meeting, the CEO blamed the bloggers and short sellers for poor stock performance when they still could not correct quarterly filings 6 months later. Oh, those bloggers!!!...they really did the company in. Seriously?! Does this sound like a fun environment with potential for growth in salary or ability to learn/better yourself?
