Pros
None. What was once a terrific, supportive, and highly collegial environment has degenerated, under the present leadership, into the poorest working situation I have encountered during my twenty-plus years in academia.
Cons
The campus is riddled with fear. The environment is toxic and corrosive - so much so that the best of my colleagues have been fired capriciously or have left voluntarily. Those that remain, like myself, are actively searching for positions at other institutions while waiting for the next shoe to drop. Faculty and staff, once encouraged to speak out as members of the community, keep their heads down for fear of being next in line for the chopping block. Student morale has been impacted noticeably by the overall atmosphere. The president is rather disengaged from the students; rarely seen at student functions and events and hardly ever seen in informal or impromptu settings.
