Pros
Product teams really share a common vision and are tight knit and want to advance their offering. The people really make Elsevier even though the work might be less-than-inspiring some days. Flexible work/life balance. Home office flexibility based on team. Ability for attending conferences and additional training. Excellent PTO. Health Insurance and benefits compensurate to what you find anywhere these days.
Cons
Frequent reorganization which can be highly distruptive to advancing work. Depending on who your direct leadership is, they can be micromanage-y. Seem to recycle poor performing leaders in organization perhaps due to executive nepotism? I am not sure, but its a theme here. Very difficult to advance unless you are a golden-child of someone at the executive/VP level. Technology services and support of product application is challenging after go-live. They tend to move on to other products with business cases and funding. This presents many challenges as products begin to mature.
