Pros

The clinical experience that can be gained is really the only pro that I can see and that does not have anything to do with this company.

Cons

This company is very dishonest and not upfront with their new-hires. They do not tell you what all the hiring process consists of, nor do they tell you how much travel is required. First of all, I had to travel 1 hour out of town 4 times to get my TB test because they are not affiliated with any clinics nearby, which is ridiculous because I live in a large city and the hospital I was set to work at is one of the largest in the state. Also, they may tell you travel is required occasionally, but beware because it is anything but occasional. They asked me to travel 3/4 of my shifts to a location 45 minutes from my house which is absurd when they are paying you only slightly above minimum wage. The worst thing about this is that I was not told where I'd be working until after I'd completed my online training (countless hours unpaid) and made the 4 trips out of town. As hard as it was after all of the time/money I had invested in it, I ended up telling them I wasn't interested in a position working for such a dishonest company. Just beware because they are not upfront with you and will try to woo you in only to hit you with the truth later!! There is so much more I could say, but I'll leave it at this.

Pros

If you're looking for experience in the medical field, a medical scribe position will definitely grant it. Learning from Drs, RNs, techs, etc is priceless and limitless.

Cons

Let me repeat myself. If you're looking for experience in the medical field, a medical scribe position will definitely grant it. HOWEVER, choose another medical scribe company. Choose one that is well-established and actually has good reviews. If you're in college or have a college degree, don't embarrass yourself and join this company for crappy pay ($8.83 hourly). You're better than that. 100 hours (50 online, 50 on-the-job) are also unpaid. In addition, the company is HIGHLY disorganized. The President and Vice President don't do anything. HR has gone to ****. Recruiters have no idea what they're doing and pretty much hire people for the sake of hiring. I was contracted with this company for a little less than one year and decided to quit because I just couldn't deal with them anymore. I'll miss the hospital and staff greatly, but it's time to move on. They're also very much aware that this company probably shouldn't exist or at the very least change it's name from Elite Medical Scribes to Worst Medical Scribes. I don't recommend this company to anyone. Well folks, that's my two cents. Take it or leave it.
