Pros

The team was great here, but every single employee has resigned in the past 3 months due to the terrible, nasty boss. Elite Education was a nice place until she went crazy, but now it has become a disgusting workplace filled with gaslighting, mental health issues, hatred and blackmail. Please do not work here.

Cons

The boss of Elite Education, Sabrina Wang is a terrible human being. She does not care at all about the wellbeing and success of her clients, instead prioritising only extracting as much money as she can from her wealthy victims. You can tell just how shameless she is from the two fake five star reviews that have appeared in the past two months. Nobody who has worked at Elite thinks or believes the lies written in those reviews and it is obvious she has paid someone to write them. She has never thanked or appreciated a single one of her employees in her life and obviously believes anyone who works for her is a slave with no thoughts or feelings. The teaching quality was good previously because she had the luck to hire talented, friendly and knowledgable teachers but since every single teacher has resigned due to Sabrina's actions the students at Elite are not being handled with nearly as much respect as they deserve. Sabrina has consistently gaslit, blackmailed and shouted at her employees to the extent that many employees have had full breakdowns in the office. The only reason Elite has survived the past two years is due to the knowledge of its past employees who have now resigned due to this terrible behavior. New employees are told that they will only teach subjects they feel comfortable with, but they end up having to teach anything Sabrina decides needs to be taught with no support. She is not a teacher and has no idea of the time and effort that is needed to create lesson plans and prepare for these surprising and stressful lessons. Promised benefits like the bonus scheme are a complete lie with no bonus being paid even after a year at the company (this happened to a previous coworker). Female employees are treated worse than male ones, being consistently granted a lower salary than males. How this is legal in a modern city like Hong Kong is insane. Please do not listen to the positive reviews on this page, they are not correct and are being used to draw new employees without the knowledge of how Elite really is. I hope you see this review and understand that there are much better places to work that will actually value you.

Pros

I had a great time as an English Teacher at Elite Education. It is probably one of the best private centres to teach at in Hong Kong. The students were really great and I never had any issues communicating and getting along with the parents. Yes, the parents do have very high expectations which can make them difficult as clients, so you must be professional and document and communicate their child’s progress with them effectively. The location is absolutely unbeatable, which made my life in Hong Kong much more enjoyable as I had easy access to everything working in Sheung Wang versus some random teaching centre out in New Territories. While I worked here we also had a generous, long lunch break hour so I was able to get a lot of things done outside and truly enjoy my breaks. I disagree with the other reviews on here. My experience at this company was fantastic! The boss and supervisors were always reasonable and accommodating, I was never micro-managed or forced to do something and the boss actually listens to feedback from the employees. If I ever had a problem the boss worked with me to resolve the issue. I find the management here to be more generous than other places I have worked at. I was never given an excessive workload, the workload was always manageable and I never had to work outside of business hours. The time-off is generous and Hong Kong has a lot more public holidays than my home country so that’s a major bonus.

Cons

Only thing I would change is I would hire more teachers in their late 20s and older. The younger crew felt a little clique-y and I didn’t relate to them that well. My favorite colleagues were those my age and older. That said, even the younger teachers there are incredibly skilled and good at what they do. If given the chance, I would definitely work here again. It’s generally pretty chill and you get to be surrounded by great coworkers. You have an abundance of different teaching materials at your fingertips which makes lesson planning a breeze. It’s overall a great job and company that I would recommend to anyone.

Pros

Classes are generally one on one and with Elite's programme you usually get to stay with your students as the progress through the years. You do have to tailor classes for each student (which is a plus to me personally), but you also have plenty of materials to work with. The working days and hours are also fairly stable. Almost a 9-6 and usually only weekdays. That is not to say work is not busy, but it is not the usual tutorial centre/cram school hours. So, I did enjoy that aspect or perk of the job. For expats, the team will also help with VISA applications. So no stress on that front.

Cons

Sometimes you may have to converse with the parents, which can be a bit stressful given the circumstances. But you can get support from the consultants generally.
