Pros
STEPS to End Family Violence is a program of Edwin Gould Services for Children and Families. This review is on STEPS, not Edwin Gould as a whole. The pros of working for STEPS is their support of their employees' self-care and their support of outside/internal training opportunities. The agency has strong benefits (dental/healthcare/vision/vacation) and they want to bring in trainings that improve your professional skills. Also, the company culture is positive and supportive.
Cons
The cons of working at STEPS is the salary offerings and the agency's tendency to be disorganized. Social Workers, who are at the Masters level, are extremely underpaid. The programs are funded by outside sources (grants/city agencies), which impacts the agency's ability to increase salaries. However, I would like more transparency of knowing how much of the grant money is spent on salary. and if there is room for salary increases. Also, there is miscommunication between programs so the day-to-day operations can be disorganized. If you need to be reimbursed, it can take months.
