Pros

Great people and some very talented professionals. Culture is great.

Cons

Leadership had poor planning for business development pipeline. Processes and standards were inconsistent between departments and made deliverables difficult to present. Some divisions were stretched too thin and the staff were stressed out. Billing was a perpetual challenge. No bonuses for non-principles and not all the principles were created equal. Made for inconsistent leadership across divisions.

EVstudio does a wide variety of project types, however a large chunk of those are residential. The multifamily architecture billing index went from a high of 60 in early 2022 to several months in the low 40's in 2023 and 2024. Meaning that firms who do multi-family lost roughly 30%+ of their business in that time frame. In the same timeframe EVstudio only reduced our billings by 8%, not what we'd like, but far better than average. This was largely due to our diverse pipeline of business development. We've made major investments into diversification of project types, disciplines and locations; all with the goal of stability and growth. Ultimately principals are people and they do vary on their strengths. Annual salary reviews in November address the compensation based on performance and by comparing it across studios. Very glad that you see and recognize the talent and how much people care at EVS. Appreciate your time here and your feedback. - Sean

Pros

Culture Team Spirit Management and Leadership

Cons

Allow non-performers too long before moving on, to the point that it can affect the work of other team members.

Pros

Architecture and engineering in one office makes collaboration easier. They work to create a fun and inclusive environment. Variety of clientele/ project types so you can find your niche. There are support staff (IT, department heads) that are genuinely dedicated to getting people the materials and equipment they need to succeed.

Cons

Architecture is still working on processes and standards. Firing and layoffs can be shrouded in mystery. A few times people just stopped coming to work. No announcement, no explanation. That can be very stressful.
