Pros

Helped with some professional development

Cons

You will be told how they treat you so wonderful and that you would never find this at another job. Meanwhile they will treat you terribly and make you dread going to work. Fancy dinners are not a fix-all for employees. Especially when you push alcohol on them. TURNOVER IS AWFUL. They fire sales staff and engineers at the drop of a hat and with talk absolute garbage about each employee once they leave. They will be angry if they find out you are still speaking to an ex-coworker who left. After one year, only the CEO, CFO, Director, and one other employee were the only ones to make it through a full year. All of the employees are very overworked and management is blind to it while they put way too much trust into their Director who is cold and abrasive. In my time here, I was told that I was essentially incompetent daily when I was unable to complete 40 hours worth of work in 2 days. When I expressed concern in having an overload of tasks and expressing burnout concerns, I was told I "clearly needed to put in more hours out of office to finish what I was assigned". I was already working from home every night and staying late most days. The CEO and CFO go off on screaming tangents in the tiny office and leads to a fearful environment as we were all so scared to set off the CEO. If you were not like them, you were not what they wanted.

EMMA International Response

We are sorry you feel this way, but do need to professionally disagree. As you know from working here we are an international consulting firm and employees do need to be flexible to work outside the norm. Again, all things that are agreed upon prior to employment. We wish you the best of luck in finding a company that is a better fit for you.

Pros

Limited positives beyond exposure to multiple areas of the business.

Cons

Role boundaries are unclear and responsibilities frequently expand well beyond the original job description. Employees may find themselves managing administrative work, operational coordination, internal systems transitions, client support, pipeline management, and proposal development all at once. There is a strong expectation of constant availability and immediate responsiveness, which can extend beyond standard working hours. A 40-hour workweek is treated as the minimum expectation rather than the standard, with hours regularly extending beyond that. Communication from leadership can at times feel unprofessional and would not be considered appropriate in most workplace settings. A recurring theme involves leadership speaking negatively about both former and current employees. This type of commentary creates an uncomfortable work environment, affects team morale, and raises questions about how any employee may be discussed when they are not in the room. Turnover in certain roles has been noticeable. Several people cycling through the same role within a two year period is worth examining as a structural issue rather than an individual one. There is also a heavy operational dependency placed on very few employees, which suggests the business would benefit from stronger operational structure overall.
