Good colleagues, but poor decisions from leadership - Executive EMCORE Employee Review

The people outside of management were nice. Made some good friends there. Before bad managers came through, I would rate it a 4+

Emcore once thrived under its previous leadership, but things changed dramatically when JR and JK took the reins. If you know these initials, then you know 😉....by the way the current CEO isn't Hong Hou since 2016. Hong Hou was a better leader. I had worked more than five years at this company, only to be let down and devalued by an incompetent manager. There was no clear path for career advancement, and by the end of my time there, merit increases were either nonexistent or laughably small—sometimes just a mere 1%. JR seemed more interested in wasting resources on acquiring one company after another, likely reaping bonuses from these acquisitions while the rest of the employees saw no improvement in their pay. It's disheartening that Emcore's financial mismanagement led to the closure and layoffs at the Alhambra location. I made some great memories and friendships there, so it’s sad to see how it all ended. As for JR, his poor decisions may have eventually caught up with him. If you're thinking about applying to Emcore, proceed with caution.
