Pros

By far the best team I’ve worked with. Everyone genuinely loved working together. I made such great friends working here. I’m so thankful for the people because that’s why I stuck it out for so long. You get to work with fun cutting edge technology everyday. To be at the start of something so huge is an exciting privilege.

Cons

I had such high hopes for Dreamscape. They are selling and producing a product like no other. I thought I found my dream job, a company I could grow with. I was extremely wrong. Management seems in incredibly immature and enjoys putting employees against one another. I have never been so micromanaged and talked down to at a job. If there’s an issue management does not come to you instead the punish you before hearing your side of the story. There is no benefit of doubt. There are rarely employee one on ones (despite what we were promised in the beginning) so you are never instructed how you can improve and be considered for promotions unless you ask and ask and ask. There is a complete and utter lack of transparency as far as promotions and changes in the store structure go. If given a promotion you’re told ‘don’t tell anyone’. This is how gossip in the workplace starts and is perpetuated by management. We had such a solid, fun team in the early stages that worked extremely well with each other and now more than half of that team has left the job we were all thrilled to have. We were so excited to be chosen in a meticulous interview process. We thought we had a dream job with an emerging company. We were not so lucky. Now people are jumping ship, not because they don’t like the work, not because they don’t like their coworkers and not because of the amazing technology. They’re leaving because they feel unappreciated, belittled, and unheard. We have raised complaints to HR, management and upper management. No change. And you wonder why your core group of dependable employees are leaving?

Pros

None. I literally can’t think of a pro in my time there.

Cons

Crewed with inexperience and yes men. Walter is an impediment to the team and detrimental to development. Direct quotes from an esquire article that also echo my experience: “They complain that he has an abrasive and intrusive style that he doesn't attempt to stifle.” "He's got a bit of a Salieri syndrome," says Lasker, referring to the composer who was famously jealous of Mozart's genius. "He wants to [write] it himself, and it's not his strong suit." As it translates to my experience, Walter had a problem with constant rewrites DURING production. Changing core elements of the software design on a whim. It didn’t matter to him what it took to do it in the inadequate timeframe given. Taking on roles he was unqualified for and stifling production. He seemed more interested in the status he held and had serious “witness me!, bloodbag” vibes. I wasn’t paid for a full quarter and my last payment was due right around christmas. I didn’t get paid till Christmas Eve and had no way to take care of christmas gifts for family. My contract wasn’t renewed until I stopped showing up after the new year. Once that happened I was contacted but by that point it was too late, I was done with dreamscape.
