Pros

About the only pro to working at Dollar General is a weekly paycheck.

Cons

Stores are understaffed and under paid meaning turnover his higher than industry standard. Upper management doesn't care. IT systems are decades behind. Seasonal buyers overload stores with product. No work life balance for anyone in the Store Manager role - expect to work 95 hour weeks, expect to go months without a day off, and expect to get yelled at for not doing more.

Pros

The job itself is easy. The cash register, stocking (especially the totes and dry truck) and cleaning are so simple however there are certain things that make it difficult, although the work itself is not (under the right circumstances.)

Cons

They never have enough people on shift so it’s always difficult to get things done. It seems like all the managers I know from the store I worked at and the surrounding ones are all so deep into drama it made me wonder if I was back in high school. Dry truck always seems to bring far too much and the stores are so little that overstock is a huge issue here. The reason I ultimately left was due to severe mistreatment and some safety concerns I had regarding some past experiences. I am very glad I left and I would not ever go back.
