Pros

First and foremost, DocuSign's work life balance is hard to beat. Flexibility in working schedules allows employees to accommodate their outside-of-work needs accordingly and remain productive and focused. This is all based on trust relationships between employees and supervisors, and those who were not able to accommodate to this culture and value set have been managed out of the company. Work is usually very interesting and challenging, I have never felt bored with the tasks at hand and there is always a ton of work in many other areas waiting for somebody to take on, in case you ever feel in need of a change. DocuSign also supports employee's mobility in order to retain good talent and foster employees growth. I have witnessed many people moving between offices, roles and teams without much of an issue. There is also a wealth of opportunities to bond and interact with your team and people in other roles by participating in many of the social activities being organized throughout the year, including Friday Happy Hours, team off-sites, picnics, sporting events, etc. Overall, DocuSign is a great place to work.

Cons

It is very well known that DocuSign's compensation is lower than other companies in the area of the same size and maturity leve, but for many of us a good work/life balance kind of evens it out. Also, although DocuSign offers a good amount of PTO and 100% paid premiums in health coverage for employees, the company is falling behind in other benefits like 401K matching, reasonably priced health premiums for family members and their parental leave is very sub par compared to the rest of the companies in the Bay Area. Finally, our hiring processes are all over the place and range very widely between teams, so we are in desperate need of more standardized and purified processes.

Great review. Thanks very much for the details. Would love to have more understanding around hiring processes. Please share your thoughts with your recruiting point person or Mike Euglow. Not sure if you mean different groups get more resources or the processes differ.

Pros

Mostly nice people, dedicated to their specific roles.

Cons

Lack of team cohesion among departments. Lots of communication and accountability breakdowns, siloed efforts. Immature processes and undeveloped operations. Unqualified and ineffective leadership: I was to be the Business Process Lead but mid-interview, the hiring manager told me they would instead place me in a very small sub-department reporting into Finance Business Transformation. It was never clear if this was meant to be temporary or permanent... I was successful in facilitating and contributing to a project that was 10+ years overdue at Docusign. The managing director I reported to was laid off so a more tenured employee took over as "manager" who had never been in charge of people and it showed. Despite my contributions, I was told how little they valued my work and efforts on a successful project. Definitely a level disparity as I have been Sr. Finance Manager twice and head of a global department reporting into VP level and up. It appeared that all this new "manager" wanted was a subservient cog to condescend, demotivate, and talk down to. Beyond ridiculous to squander my 15 years of corporate experience.
