Pros
- 25 days of PTO ("The golden handcuffs" as they are informally called here) - Insurance benefits are good - 401k matching - People are overall friendly, even if only superficially - Campus is nice - "Jeans days" every day
Cons
- Work-Life balance varies wildly between IT departments but overall is getting steadily worse since company separated from Morgan Stanley. - Your output is valued more than you as a person in a lot of areas. - Micromanagement can be commonplace and very little trust is extended to non-management direct reports. - Very little feedback/coaching throughout the year except at review time. - Change is very slow; innovation is hardly encouraged. - Bonuses and pay grade raises are low, even for successful performers - Equipment, such as laptops, get very old before they're refreshed. My current laptop is 4 years old. I considered this company to be a fun, upbeat place when I started 7 years ago but it has changed a lot since then. I'm a project manager in IT at the Riverwoods headquarters.
