Pros
An independent and self directed way to make some money. Cars seem to be well maintained and they get great gas mileage. Safety is stressed.
Cons
$100-$150 a day seems like decent money until you break it down hourly. If you're working 12+ hour days with no breaks that leaves very little personal time and if I'm going to be working that much I should be making great money. Though, often you make less than that and feel like you were lucky to make enough to cover your lease. It seems wrong to get charged for no shows, at the very least they could split the difference on a no show. The reason for many no shows is that people call 2 or 3 different cab companies and whoever gets there first gets the fare leaving the others with no shows. Most of these no shows seem to be in areas considered "bad neighborhoods" where few drivers hang out. When someone calls a cab and they don't show up for 45 minutes or longer and they become late for work or miss their plane I can understand why people do that. I had the experience with Discount where I called for a cab way in advance to go to the airport. No one ever showed up and it was getting so close to my flight I had to drive there myself and had to pay $100 in parking. The vouchers that are under $15 are not worth the time and if that's all you're getting you will be lucky to make your lease even if you are an efficient driver.
