Pros
The people are great. They really care about what they're doing, whether it's product, safety, marketing, or outreach. The people genuinely want to do right by the community. Everyone was understanding due to prioritization of projects. I changed direct managers 3 times in my role, and all 3 times I've had great mentors who wanted to support me beyond my role.
Cons
As the company scaled, upper management tanked. Discord went through the phase of turning into a start up into a scaled small/medium sized business and it didn't do a great job of managing that transition. The messages of the transition will be hard were said all the time in my entire 2.5+ years, but it seemed like there was no progress being made. Executive management knew that the biggest issue the company faced was transparency for the past 1.5 years. It's still the biggest issue they have because the employees really don't understand why they're doing what they're doing. Sometimes they do try to explain why, but by that point it's too late.
