Pros

- well located, near the old port - gym in the building - devs and designers (= production team) were great - if negotiated at the time of hiring, STM can be paid - usually, no overtime needed - for a junior, this might be a good first experience (max 6 months) just to gain some experience but mostly to learn what you shouldn't do - christmas party and a birthday cupcake

Cons

Dev related problems : - you won't have the time to do your job properly. If like me, you really love what you're doing and believe it's important to deliver a great quality product to the clients, you'll be very frustrated. Even if they pretend they're selling "expertise and top notch quality projects", in reality most of the projects will be underquoted and you'll have to do it in less than the time needed. I was working fast, but at one point, you just can't go faster than possible, so you'll have to cut in quality - no proper documentation and follow-up for projects - no time to learn or update your skills - no way to propose new techs or better ways to do things - no professional process beside basic repo on Bitbucket (no deployment process, forget about automated backups, changes done on production sites, ...) - too much bought themes that you'll need to fix and/or adapt to suit client's needs Ethic and human related problems: - for a Montreal based company (and they will tell you over the phone that the rates are high because of that), they actually employ a lot of underpaid Indians, that are not trained properly and deliver bad projects (because underpaid and no-time) - you won't have the same colleagues for more than 8 months, since everybody is leaving (because they wouldn't sell their soul) or is fired (because they had a voice) at one point. I was working there for a year and saw 8 people leaving (in the team that actually counted less than 15 people), this is not a sign of good health - overtime unpaid and you'll probably have to run to get your money or your vacations if you leave - the atmosphere is fake and the hierarchy will serve you a lot of bull*** once every two months (like "we're in top shape and have a lot of money", "let's change our process and sit at the table to discuss how to grow things here") - the two last reviews on glassdoor are probably fake too Unfortunately, I could go on and on.

Pros

Amazing location. Easy commute/close to Metro. Health benefits. Beautiful office. Helpful coworkers. Culturally diverse environment. Pet-friendly. Casual dress code. Good stepping stone.

Cons

Below average compensation. High expectations with little to no training. Management claims company is larger than it is. Outsourcing majority of contracts to other countries. Little to no empathy, compassion or respect towards employees. The profit is the only goal. Extremely high turnover of employees. The lifetimers here are the only ones who are valued. Owners can be arrogant and unprofessional. Management is not your friend - despite a superficial attempt at being one.
