Pros
Coming from the start-up and nonprofit world, I’ve experienced my share of mismanaged and even toxic workplaces — Democracy Docket is not one of them. While I’d heard about a previous “era” when the culture wasn’t as strong for junior staff, it’s clear the organization has made meaningful changes. The current team is made up of dedicated self-starters who consistently go above and beyond for both their colleagues and their work. Leadership has invested significant time and effort in building a healthier, more supportive workplace, and it shows.
I’ve never felt more supported in a role. The team is young, passionate, and fun, making even the most challenging work (fighting for democracy) feel energizing and rewarding. Collaboration and connection between teams are constant, creating a truly dynamic environment.
There’s also genuine room for creativity and growth. I’m learning new things every day and feel empowered to contribute in meaningful ways. Marc, in particular, is transparent, approachable, and incredibly smart — qualities that set the tone for the entire organization.
I could not recommend working here more highly.
Cons
I will say, if you "kinda" like democracy, like you believe it's a good thing, but you're not totally bought into the fight, this probably isn't the place for you (especially if you're looking to join the news/social team)
